Celebrating 13 Years of the Reno Superhero Crawl in Pictures
In order to get all super psyched for the 2019 Reno Superhero Crawl coming July 13th, we’re taking a little trip down memory lane!
Not everyone knows this but the Reno Superhero Crawl is the first of its kind. Not everyone knows this either: it has changed organizers a couple times!
Here at Crawl Reno we didn’t come up with the Reno Superhero Crawl. The event began in 2007, brought to life by the folks who started the Reno Santa Crawl! Originally it was going to be a Superman Crawl and it was placed in July as a mid-way point to the next Santa Crawl.
From 2011 through 2015, Crawl Reno put the event on and licensed it from the folks over at the Santa Crawl, who then organized it again 2016-18. This year both organizations struck a deal whereas Crawl Reno will be putting it on from now on! We’re really grateful for this opportunity, as the crawl has a very special place in our hearts!
Now, we’d like to take a trip down memory lane and check out all the pictures we have! The 2011 pics disappeared (it IS a drinking event, after all), so if you have any pics from that year please contact us!
This was the very first Reno Superhero Crawl! Little did these guys know but they had just created one of the best and most celebrated bar crawls the world has ever known!
The crawl evolves! In it's second year even more people came out to enjoy the fun! You may notice that many of the superhero costumes are made up identities and not so many are characters you find in comic book titles from Marvel or DC. This is because back in 2008 comic books and comicbook movies weren't as hugely popular as they are today.
At this point the event caught national notoriety and exposure from being featured on the Art Mann show! You can find the episode on iTunes in Season 5 Episode 16 titled 1,000 Drunk Superheroes!
During the 2010 event you will notice there are more traditional costumes emerging! By now the event has grown from a handful of people and bars to hundreds of crawlers and over a dozen bars!
2013 was so fun! At this point the Marvel movies and DCs Dark Knight trilogy are all so popular that you'll notice lots of different characters out there! The fellow in the cardboard Iron Man suit said he built it over 6 months!
2014 was so colorful and exciting! Lots of creativity, and even the bartenders got into it with that impressive Sub Zero costume! We had tons of costume contests and giveaways that year!
